Duo Lite FX Multi Tip: 12 - 1.75lb / Quiver

Russ Pike

Senior Member & Supporter
I bought this rod on a whim (as you do) thinking it might be useful for fishing the Dove for various scenarios and species. I’ve been trying to find out a bit more info on it but struggling. Doesn’t even appear to be listed on the Fox website. (Pictures attached). There seems to be every other combination but not this particular 12ft 1.75lb version with 4oz and 6oz quivers.

Does anyone have this same rod and if you do or did own one what would you utilise it for? Sensible answers only please 😬

Many thanks

An all purpose barbel rod, these Fox rods are a joy to use, with a nice action. I have a couple of similar rods the older Plus, which is an Avon top and a 6oz quiver. You have both 4 and 6 oz which is very versatile. Its a cross weave blank, very nice. The 6 oz will handle a 3 oz gentle lob cast, and the 4 2oz or so imo.

Thanks Neil,

I thought I might make a nice chubbing rod and for perch. Maybe even tench! Just can’t find any info on it.

Plenty use this type of rod for Chub, as you know they fight dirty so strong tackle is needed. Think you might be pleased with just what a nice rod it is, I use mine for tipping for chub etc, it really makes for a good feeder rod. Tench will be just the job too, don't suppose Perch will mind either😉

I’ve got these Fox rods aswell @neilsmart so a nice lil range, if I ever use them 🤭

Is there a casting weight range for quiver tips?

Only rods like the Guru A class distance feeder, 12ft is rated to 110g and comes with a 3oz max tip

The 13ft version is rated to 150g and still only comes with 4oz max

Im currently happy with my Guru duel tip speci rods but looking back I think a regular heavy feeder rod which I already had at the time would have suited just fine.

Hi Mark, the Plus quiver section didn't have a rating in it's blurb, I did find it was 6oz though, which is fine for me as I never go carp style with a cast.
As with 'donkey top' type tips they are more robust than push in, I wouldn't however use more than a loaded 2oz feeder. They make a good upstream rod with that tip.
As far as heavy feeder rods, I am tempted to use over a Barbel type rod, but my only rod like that I own is a 'Shakey' thing that must be 30 years old and mint, bought in a job lot, it is like a broom handle.
The new Shakespeare rods are very good apparently.

Are they the SKP ones Neil?
If you ever want to sell your fox duo ARD008 Russ let me know…been after a second for a while now
Ditto Alan, I’ve been on the look out for another for sometime but when they do come up, they fetch silly money.
