Drennan SS landing net handle.

Jon Frisby

Senior Member & Supporter
Just when i thought i had the perfect landing net handle; the little black plastic closing device(widget), located on the threaded male section; has cracked. I am sure it has happened to other users and it should be fairly simple to get a replacement. So calling on BFW know-how; How do i get a replacement black plastic widget?

Thank You in advance

Jon

Most tackle shops have half a dozen of these behind the counter. Drennan reps regularly pass them out to their stockists as its a common fault.

anyone got any contacts for drennan ? cant find a website ?:(

Another tip I'd suggest you may wish to consider is to wind a bit of insulation tape around the bottom of the handle (the bung end).

I've found that when I'm screwing my pole into my net, this end rubs on the ground and with the friction, it can become loose or even unscrew itself. obviously you don't want to lose the end or have it come loose as dirt can then enter inside and further foul up the locking mechanism.

as much as a fan i am of drennan, i don't know why you bother with tape and spare bits, go and buy a Chris brown, total quality and i don't think the end will come off either.

Spoke to Drennan this morning and a nice man is now sending a new one in the post.

A tip for you chaps with drennan SS land.net poles. A year or two after I bought mine it began seizing up. Obviously the spreader on the end of the internal pole was just spinning with the pole and not tightening/loosening. If this happens with yours take the inner pole out and remove the spreader and key the out side edge of it up with some medium grade abrasive paper, this gives it more bite onto the inner edge of the outer pole. Grease the thread a tiny bit and your sorted. Mine's been fine ever since.
