Drennan specialist single rod sleeve

Paul Thompson

Hi all,

Does anyone have experience of the above? I'm looking for a rod sleeve to carry one rod and net pole. These look okay but I can't tell if I can squeeze the net pole (and rolled up net) in with the rod.
I have plenty of quivers, rod bands etc. Have some net sleeves too but none of them have a carry handle.
Thanks in advance
Tommo

I’ve mentioned this on another thread somewhere, but I think they’re the same spec as the ones you get with a Drennan Bowler rod. If they are - I’ve managed to get a made up rod with a shimmy 4000 ST RB, a Drennan twist lock pole and a bank stick with a rest attachment (which went in the bit that holds spare quiver tips). It was a bit of a squeeze and I wouldn’t do it with any rods/reels I was precious about, but it worked. Regarding the net, I’d try if I owned a roll up one but unfortunately, I don’t. Might work…

I went to buy a couple of additional ones in January, but they were out of stock everywhere. One tackle shop in Essex had them on their site, but called once I’d placed the order online and refunded me. The chap said he was expecting stock in late March, if I recall correctly.

Hi Paul, just a thought, why not get the 2 rod sleeve, lots of room for your rod, use the second sleeve for your landing net pole, bank sticks, rolled up nets, etc.

Hello mate, have a look at the ones sold by The Tackle Box, Dartford. I bought one recently and it's great for the price ( under £20)

Thanks Derek. I'll have another look, my first thoughts were it looked a bit bulky and I may as well use my Drennan quiver instead of that, but I'll have another look cheers

Nick, Do you mean the Skeletal rod sleeves? If so, does one rod actually fit inside the sleeve or just on the outside? If its inside this could be just what I'm looking for

I use the double rod sleeve for short mobile sessions and carry my GTI made up with but also a flood rod in case I have completely misjudged what level may be like, so can just swap reel over.....I don’t find it bulky at all

Thats the one. I bought the 11ft one and its perfect for what I need. The rod and reel go inside and the net and handle outside.
