Drennan Specialist Barbel 12ft 2.25lb Rods

Hello - any one have any experience with these rods as looking at getting a couple. I like Drennan rods but open to alternatives around the same price.

I already have 2 Series 7 avon rods in 1.25tc 2 in 1.5tc and 2 in 1.75tc so I have low water conditions and the 1.5tc and 1.75tc were well used in the summer when the levels were low for fish just into double figures. But even the 1.75tc cant cast big feeders and 5oz+ bombs, well they can but I like the rods and dont want to damage them.

I have also been looking at the Guru N-gage specimen barbel 2.25lb or the preston innovations monster xtreme distance rods at 13ft 8in.

These will be for the Trent around Newark area.

Any advice? I am looking at around £100 a rod and matched to 1000 gte-c

Thanks

Yes I have a pair. Use them at collingham. Nice rods. Can't fault them.
Liked so much I brought a pair of the 1.75.
Liked them that much I also brought a 1.5 too. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Ha - sounds like me with the series 7 avon rods. Currently I am using 2x 13ft shakespeare method feeder rods 200g casting weight and I have caught well on them including my pb at 13lb 11 and for 32 quid (reduced to £19.99) they are a steal. However they feel a little heavy when playing fish.

What reels do you pair the 2.25 with?

Another consideration could be Daiwa theory's in 2.25lb. I have the older versions which bought second hand on here and they've retired my fox 1.75 and 2.25 royale's. I use them for all my barbel fishing no matter the venue now, a great blank that you can really apply the pressure on with.

What are they like casting heavy weights?
