I remember these nets are very good, finally drennan decided to relaunches them.

Looking at the images, it seems to me that the new one is a lot narrower than the old model?

Only one problem Huanzhou, no one seems to have them. I’ll stick with my Tackle Box Darent Valley nets ta ! 👍

Comparing them to my original pair, there are no obvious differences. The spreaders look the same and the shape looks the same. The old ones were a long way from the straight armed triangles that many carp/specimen nets are. Both versions look rather narrow by comparison. The glaring difference is that this new version is also available in a 28" version. They also have a sleeve/bag that the originals did not. There's also a typo on the website where the 36" net is stated to be 38" in one part of the blurb.

How do you find the original one? What’s the spreader material? I may get the 28 inch one for chub.

They are fine, though I must admit that I haven't used them that much. I'm not currently fishing venues or methods where they are the best option.

The spreader is some king of high impact plastic. It feels like it might be FRN (Fibre Reinforced Nylon) to me. It's molded around a stainless steel threaded insert.

I still have the original 32" net. I put another net on lt as the one that came with it was way too shallow for my liking and it doesn't look like they've improved that aspect with the latest version!

Plastic spreader blocks always worry me. There is absolutely no other reason why it shouldn’t be metal other than cost saving.

Fortunately I still have 2 of the original Middy 30+ Barbel nets, complete with metal spreader blocks.

I've got plastic spreader blocks from these specialist nets that are probably 10 years old and they're still fine.

The original ones were really popular but after seeing a mates one up close, for me at least, the mesh was way too shallow. No good for resting a barbel in the edge whilst sorting mat/ scales etc. hopefully they’ve made them deeper this time.

The spreader block on those nets has to be used to be believed. You’ll never bust it. It’s the best bit about the whole net imo.

I had both the 32 and 36 which I ended up giving both away.
For me The arms are way too flexible for any reasonable force applied. The holes in the mesh are too small on the smaller net and both lack any decent depth for larger fish recovery.

I think they would be great tench commy carp bream nets where you can do things comfortably and close to the water.
If you could buy the spreaders separately I’d definitely have a couple of those

The TB sell a range of options including the DV meshs, the TB easy-mesh range, Freespirit meshes and I believe some ones made by Korda.
Oh, yeah, they do a lot of spare meshes. I thought you mean you can choose the mesh when you buy the nets. You can build your own nets with all the components they sell.

I might have a spare somewhere Rich, I’ll have a look over the next day or two but if I can find it then you’re welcome to it.
