I know the subject rod is quite a fine tool, but is it suited to land the occasional lump if balanced with 4lb/5lb line?

I'm asking as I find the Plus version too pokey

If length isn't an issue, have you looked at the 12ft Acolyte Carp Waggler, which is rated at lines upto 7lb? I use the 11ft version for Crucians and Tench, it has a soft tip and power reserves lower down?
