I reckon these worth a look, I ordered some flat-pear leads and one of these was in the package "as a teaser"

not for me thanks Paul...I’m unsure about textured finishes I just see it as introducing an extra element that COULD damage the hook link !

does anyone really think these will be less likely to spook a fish and catch them more...if anything more a recipe for a snap up and a tangle?

I've been doing some long sessions at linear fisheries this year after big bream and tench in gin clear water where carp anglers make every effort to conceal there rigs because the fish are so pressured and rig shy

I was there last week for 4 days and had a few big bream on the 2nd night then after that it was all carp. In the end I took over 25 carp in the last 48hrs to mid 30's on very crude groundbait feeder heli rigs with caster and worm in daylight, hook length were 5inch long sitting next to a big feeder.. a few carp guys came round to see what I was doing it could believe how I was fishing.

Also on the Thames this year the finesse as totally gone out the window with the roach fishing, basic positive rigs seem to be the order of the day.

I know my fishing is now leaning towards being positive with rigs, feeding and bait with sturdy tackle and the fish don't seem to be shy in anyway towards it and respond better.

It’s all about confidence isn’t it really. I don’t think carving a weight to look like a photo realism leaf is “the” way forward but if a standard lead seen dozens of times, acts as a red flag and prevents that one take and that’s the difference between a blank or not, it’s worth taking a little more time. Regardless x10 2oz weights for less than a tenner with free postage is a good deal. We go to the effort of back leading etc, trying funny shaped leads is hardly madness, esp in gin clear rivers.

Nicely done

Agree it's call about confidence really, that's all. To consider fish can be fooled by colour shape or form is daft, but a whole industry has been formed on just that.

Had a similar experience last year on a local syndicate feeder fishing for roach in winter, casting every 15 mins with maggots...had to use 12Ib hooklink as per rules (not braid) ...so very crude but still caught loads of roach to 2Ib. Also had complaints from the carpers that the continual casting will spook the fish for everyone, I was the only one to catch any fish including (nuisance) carp that day
I think a lot of tackle is marketed at the anglers paranoia...but if my business I would do the same!
