Dog boots / owners

Hi men ,

We had a long roving session yesterday across rough ground , and the dog suffered when we got home . It was obvious that he had been stung by nettles , as he was scratching his paws badly all night . The new groath at this time of the year is low , and he follows us no matter what , so treds on these and thorns etc . We have been searching online and found that you can get dog boots for working dogs / rough ground work , and it would be better is someone could recomend any ?.

Hi Mark,

Simple answer...I don't know, but I am touched by your concern for your dog....good man. I do know from my own dogs in the past that they will put up with a coat, and things like that....but they HATE things on their feet. Chances are, the old fella will just lay down and chew them off :p So...it may be as well to try something like children's/dolls socks with a wrap of parcel tape around the top to hold them on, anything you have kicking around, just to see if he will ever put up with something on his feet.

If he does get on with them, then spend your cash :D I must say the ones in your link look like they have no shape, no bend to acommodate the shape of a dogs foot, which may (or may not) be awkward. Those in Nic's link at least look like they were made for a dog....but who knows? Good luck in your search fella, and I really hope you can find a way to help the old chap, bless him.

Cheers, Dave.

Worth a try for the old fella Hatter, I hope you can get him to leave them alone.
Good luck.

Alternatively you could try this. ;)

Hello Mark,
Maybe you should carry the poor old chap at least for some of the distance, find a corner in the ruckbag for him.;)
Boots would not have lasted 5 minutes with my last dog, Border Collie, he went through 3 sets of rear seat belts and they looked as though they had been cut with scisors.

Hi men ,

Colin , he does get carried a bit when we see loads of nettles etc . But he is a Jack , and likes to trot alongside us . As he is 15 we are looking at some sort of rucksack ( they do front hanging carriers ) or papoose . He is really well behave , and we will get some socks to try :D.

He is the last of a pack of 4 we had at one time , last dog standing . He is the son of our first jack , and all 4 were related , which did not help when they went off like 4 sticks of dynamite :D. So after 15 years we owe him to try things.
