Just watched the podcast of Keith Arthur and Mr Spears fishing the river Lea. What a different end of season they had to me. They were getting a bite a cast, or so it appeared, catching barbel at will. I fished a section of the river Severn at Jackfield. I fished everything from a 20 mm halibut pellet, down to an 8mm, Huge chunks of curried spam down to tiny pieces of plain spam, and everything in between. I couldn,t buy a bite no matter what i tried, straight lead, feeder, free lined. The nearest i got was a tiny rattle with a single maggot, came back as a skin.

How did your end of season go ?

P.S. Any fish would have been a bonus, but a massive thank you to Neil Partridge ( and kerri ) for making it a special day.

I spent a few days on the hants avon which was still in flood making access to a lot of the water impossible,I had 2 barbel of 9.9 and 14.2 well happy with them also a couple of chub one of which was a new pb of 7.2.Having said this it feels me with sadness that this could be the last end of season I fish the stretch as the club has lost that stretch of river(muppets).Good luck to all.

hi derek, its a shame you didn't catch mate but never mind me & young andy showed you what one looked like each.
no honestly though it was good to see you & john again & looking forward to meeting up again sooner rather than later. fair play to andy on hls first barbel.
it was nice too to have a good laugh afterwards in the robin. ceri said she enjoyed meeting you too
glad you got back saftley too although it must have been fairly late.
