Diawa 2.25 Powermesh Rod/Rods wanted

HI folks, anyone have an original two and a quarter power mesh barbel rod in good condition. I'm in south Lincs but would be prepared to meet and collect the rod. I have a pair of 2.75's which are great when the Trent is carrying a bit but over gunned this time of year and the I don't like the idea of trying to throw a big feeder all the way across with my 1.75 barbel seekers though they may be capable of doing it. Thanks to anyone who may be able to help.

Hi Steve, many thanks for the reply. I’m guessing that if they’re brand new they will be the B2 version. If they are the original models then I’m interested, could you let me know please. Regards Kevin

Hi Kevin,
I have a set of original daiwa 11ft 2.25lb tc v carp rods which were the precursor to the powermesh and have the kevlar weave. Decals very faded but otherwise excellent condition. Let me knownof interested and I'll ping you a video and some snaps. Ta, George

Hi George, thanks for the reply. I'm after 12' so I'm going to wait and see what turns up. I'm probably being overly cautious in my reluctance to load up my 1.75 barbel seekers but I really don't like to over stress my rods. I will no doubt use my 2.75 power mesh on the occasions that I want to hit the far bank with a larger feeder........its not everyday that I need to do it fortunately.

Your making the right choice. Barbel seekers are a very soft through actioned blank with imo the casting capabilities of 2-3oz maximum.
I would not be loading them up any heavier than that especially for a good overhead launch. That’s what they made the big river version for. That’s a cracking rod.

I have a pair of 2.25 Powermesh, and they are fantastic rods that I use on the Middle Trent.

Happy to lob out 6oz+ if needed.

I also use them for my Zander fishing on the Lower Severn and WAvon as the action gives a beautiful smooth arc in the blank that negates hook pulls and the approx 6oz fish, lead total can hit the LS far bank easily.

The current versions on ebay at about £135 are great value and friends that I have suggested them to are suitably impressed.

That’s useful to know. So heavy barbel rods are ideal for zandering then?
