Coronavirus and work party,s

Should work party,s still go ahead ? my local club are still holding work party,s stating they will not work in groups but send people out on they’re own.. surely this has got its own health and safety implications working next to water on your own! .. I know we fish on our own but most of that time is sitting in a chair not building swims etc ..also there would be a large gathering in the car park and how many people will open and close the gate and unlock the padlock
Personally I think it’s irresponsible to continue with work party’s especially as this particular club’s membership is mostly the older generation

Terry im sure while this virus is going about it would be more reasonable for your club to just hold fire for the time being. Clean ups and new swims can be built anytime not when there is a national emergency going on. 👍🎣

Surely 2 or 3 people could work together, but not so close to each other where possible. Just look at the supermarkets, hundreds, possibly thousands all next to each other in a queue. Confused.com 🤪

We made the decision earlier this week to cancel all work parties, we had two planned, one for this weekend. Our monthly committee meetings are also cancelled, we will have our meeting online, fishery reports sent via email. We have a bailiffs/fishery managers/committee Facebook group to discuss daily goings on which works very well and also a WhatsApp groups for fisheries teams/bailiffs.

A bit of common sense please. How on Earth can a man and a strimmer be a problem? Of course we all have to be aware and play a part in protecting each other but fishing is probably the best activity regarding social isolation, if many could not access the rivers it would be counter productive. Taking sensible precautions is key, but don't see a problem with this sort of activity.

Totally agree Neil.

I would also suggest that in some cases its arguably a bit safer if people are working alone undertaking certain tasks such as strimming bankside vegetation or knapsack spraying invasive weeds. People have to stay fit and healthy and getting outside to do some physical work is good for the body and mind.

Just a reminder that any bankside herbicide spraying MUST have EA approval.

If using a commercial product be carried out by a qualified indvidual.

Fines are very high.

And the herbicide must be approved for near water course use.

If you've got a compromised immune system, then yes of course you should take the necessary precautions. Everybody else please just go about your business. Stop being brainwashed by the F@*#kin media.
