Coarse Angling Today

Jon Frisby

Senior Member & Supporter
I found last months copy of Coarse angling Today tucked away in my local Newsagent. I have never seen the magazine before and it was a good read with some very informative articles by Tony Miles, Stef Horak, Dave Tipping etc. Content wise was very good with articles on Barbel, Perch, Roach etc. The best thing about it was the genuine articles, by this i mean the authors using there own tackle, not there sponsors rods reels and tackle and not plugging some super paste or pellets, which i find the ultimate turn off.

Looks like i have a replacement now for Coarse Fisherman and well done CAT

Sounds refreshing and right up my street Jon.

I'll check it out next edition. It'll make a change from gazing miserably at the long distance weather forecasts on t'interweb...

Exactly the same thing happened to me Jon, and I too was pleasantly surprised by the content. Perhaps the magazine racks are so thin on angling mags now that anything looks good :D:D

Cheers, Dave.

Hi men ,

I used to get all 3 main mags , CF , Carp and course , and CAT . I enjoyed them all but found cat the easiest to read at work !!!!.

CAT is far and away the best mag but often it can be difficult to find. Much easier to put in an annual order and get it delivered

I order mine via my local newsagent mainly because CAT does not give any reduced subscription price for paying up front( unless that has recently changed) I have always thought that they could have increased there circulation if they were to do so because it is so difficult to find in many newsagents. I am sure that is how IYFC increased thiers

Thanks for that, chaps. I'm still mourning the loss of CF (perhaps that's taking it a little far) but glad there's still something out there......

I must say that CAT is a pleasant read but get really naffed off with the editing. In nearly every edition there are around 4-5 spelling grammatical mistakes. Its not the end of the world but it does make you wonder

They do occasionally offer free gifts for a years subscription, I once got a Wychwood reel, not top drawer but handy for bait dropping, spodding etc.

Hurgz,

I have corrected the more obvious errors in your brief post.

Regards,

R. :)

I agree still reading through the Carp and Coarse I never got to.

I am taking a time to get into CAT - 1st copy I got I did not like, 2nd copy was better just glad they honoured the subscription as had nearly 18 months of Coarse Fisherman to run ! So cannot complain too much....

A replacement is a bit of an issue.

I have 3 years worth of CAT under the bed Jon, will swap you for a Torrix if you like:p:D

I would have thought subscribing would be cheaper as you need to add fuel costs to drive to shop.
