Close Season Blues

What are people planning to do during the close season to keep them sane?

Me, i'm hoping to catch a carp or 3 off the top at some local lakes. Would like to stalk a carp in the margins too.

Also wouldn't mind catching a big Perch or Tench but the carp are going to be my main priority.

Sort my gear out. That may take three months.

If I do get out anywhere, it will be tench in the margins and carp off the top.
 
I will be fishing for tench some weekends, I have a plan to put together a serious campaign on a local pit for carp, I will be chucking a fly around on a local chalkstream.

I have a couple of weekends in planning to target sturgeon and catfish on a UK water, a few days to try for a record crucian on a couple of local waters.....

Oh and am off to the Ebro again for big moggies first week of June.

I imagine, as last year that I have so much planned I will not have enough time and it will roll right through the summer and I won't get a serious Barbel head on again until October...............

She was quite shaken up for a couple of minutes, better now though as she’s written me a list of things she wants doing in the next three months!

Decorating, tilling and the garden so far, sure she will add to it soon enough!
 
Well for me it'l be Extremadura on the 28th for 7 days fishing then I'l be starting back on the syndicate lake for some Carp, Tench and hopefully a BIG Rudd or two. I caught a few small Carp and Barbel on the pin last year so now I'v set myself a target of a 20lb+ on it:)
 
Not sure what to expect Tony, theres a different forcast on each site so iv been following the one thats been saying 20 degrees and sunny haha
 
Well ,of course there,s the usual DIY stuff, but, a season ticket for salmon on the Test, a few days on the Itchen and the big tench and carp may well keep me occupied!!

I'm looking to join a syndicate with a couple of small but interesting lakes with plenty of stalking potential and some good carp/tench/perch and roach. There's also a few grass carp to over 30lbs - that would be worth a picture or two:D

Mark, good luck with the pin. Playing a big carp on one is a blast and highly effective - my best is 26.3 on the pin and Avon rod although I am now the proud owner of a cane rod so that will hopefully be getting bent very soon.

The barbel can wait until July at least - well, except for the Spanish ones.

Im going to sell some stuff... Too much kit, not enough time equalls dead money sat in the shed, loft, spare room, even the bedroom.
 
i have got to completely clear my garage out as i just noticed my expensive sleeping bag has been gnawed a good bit along with a few of my little used ruckbags and barrow bags, the garage looks like a giant magpies nest, my son has been rummaging and what he calls tidying up:eek:
hell, the more room i create the bigger the junk heap grows, bikes, inflatable boat/outboard, spare mower,strimmer and umpteen large gardening appliances, all the bulky fishing bits like bivvies, brolly, barrows, chairs and bed, waders, boots, in fact a lifetimes fishing tackle less the rods n reels which i dont keep outdoors, bored? heheheheh more like horrified at the thought, now a few weeks on that and the sea gear will be looking very
tempting as it becons my instincts to take it for some exercise, the gardening? well my keep referring to my heart problem stops her indoors from nagging too much:D
