Chair

I thought this morning as I dragged my weary bones over a few fields waist high in undergrowth, cold and soaking wet, the firm that comes up with a truly TRULY light but sturdy chair for the roving angler will make a fortune.

Chopping the legs right down and calling it a "low profile" is great if you dont have a dicky back :). At the moment it seems to be that or using a chair described as light, but not over long disstance.
Come on you tackle makers, how about the Ultra Light Barbel Roving Chair :)

There was a shimano tribal chair that looked really lite in classifieds not sure if it's still available but again looked low!

I have the JRC Specialist X Lite Chair, nice and lite and a must after a long walk. not the most comfortable but perfect for 5/6 hours on the bank

Hi all,
I still use a old Daiwa Mission chair that's about 10 years old, its nice and light.
I have a Fox chair as well but its far to heavy unless you carry it on a trolly.
Paul, I know what you mean about the low chairs I'm 6ft 2 and find them really uncomfortable and worse still I look like a grasshopper sat on one.

Iv just got the new Trakker recliner with arms cracking chair also very comfy

Just purchased a wychwood superlight recliner, only weighs 4.9kg!!

This is certainly going to help this season:D legs are getting shorter every year

just looked at the picture of your chair, does it recline? also there are gaps in the seat which expose the support bolts which dig in at times when sitting for long periods. Im v happy with the chairs weight compared to my old one along with its reclining feature and extra padding. Your chair is lighter but as you said no longer available

picked up an old aluminium prologic recliner from a car boot sale for a tenner, camo cover, recliner.very light.......its even lighter now with the back legs removed for the river banks.
spot on......;)

Do they? I hadn't noticed! ;) There's a healthy 2nd hand market for those looking for a truley lightweight chair, or here's the next best thing still over 1.5kg lighter than yours. Carp Fishing - Carp Bedchairs / Chairs - Starbaits - Starbaits Session Chair

There's a little factory in China knocking out these chairs for all the big names (Chub, JRC.........) for about the same price, they're ok if you aren't XL or XXL  Beware though that doing a 'Musical Chair' -'I'm sure it was just behind me' backward fall on to them puts enormous strain on the stitching (Mine tore and I'm only 11st at most) . I'd recommend going over the seat stitching with some 20lb braid and a darning needle soon after purchase, after that I really like them as a compact chair :)

Yes, I know you shouldn't have to

I will have a look at the Star Baits Chair, I was after something with no arms.

Well worth a look Ian. The reason i put the original link up from 2009 was to demonstrate it's longevity - they're solid. I'm not a small chap either - 6' and 15st, and a good friend who also has one is considerably heavier! :p He also uses his as a foot rest for climbing walls!!!!

right - wasting time here i'm off to the river . . . .
