Centerpin Help Needed

Have just purchased a searcher center pin in good conditon How do you take the spool off ? With out getting the tool kit out as i want to give it a clean any information will be a great help No angle grinders:eek: thanks Alan

If its a spoked reel then there should be a release mechanism on one of the spokes. Look for 2 little rectangular shapes either side of a spoke and push them towards the hub then pull the spool away from the backplate.

The Searcher is very similar to the Match Aerial, and the Fred Crouch replicas and latest Jet

On two (opposite) of the six spokes there are mechanisms, the larger knurled wheel is the drag adjuster, and you want the other one.

Hold the reel (assuming you are right handed) in your left hand, and rotate the drum until the adjuster is away from you. Then grasp the smaller mechanism with the thumb and forefinger of your right hand and pull towards you, against the spring, at which point you will be able to lift the drum off of the backplate.

Sounds fiddly, and is the first time :)

Good luck
