New Member
First Id like to say a big Hi as Im new on this forum...so HI!...

As Im sue you can tell im new to river fishing as Im an avid carp angler and have been for many years.

The 1st question I want to ask is , do barbel switch off in winter as carp do? ( I know carp can still be caught but its hard work)

Hello Dave - welcome aboard.

As with carp, cold conditions aren't condusive to catching barbel.

However, a mild spell, preferably with rain and south westerly winds, can produce some great fishing in the winter.

Had some really good days in winter flood conditions as well.

Pick your moments.

Hi Dave and welcome aboard, it will be a bit quiet on till later or tomorrow as we are out after em on a day like today has been.
Similar to Carp really, in my opinion a change from pellets etc.. to the humble maggot and hemp and slightly deeper swims.
