Hi, looking for a small camera to take instead of my bulky slr and got a chance of buying this quite cheap i know its not a modern one but just wondering if it produces decent images ?

Hi Chris
Well some years ago on the forum the camera was really recommended by one of our members. So much so that I went out and bought a lightly used one. Problem was I never used it myself. I still have it boxed and with all the extras. i keep meaning to sell it but always forget.
if you want details of mine let me know.
But to answer your question I repeat it was very recommended by someone on the forum.

Hi Chris
G6 is quite old technology, better off with G12 or G1 MK1 or is you want smallish size A640
Regards Wayne

The G6 was a leading edge camera at the time for specialist anglers. Allowing a self take made easier with the flip screen. Less bulky than an SLR but with professional features. I have had the 'updated' G10 (£400 new) some years now. Flip screen with decent resolution (10 mega pixels). Fairly bullet proof. The G6 is worth a punt at today's second hand prices.

Does the G10 or any of the same series have infrared remote functionality?

Its funny, as I'm currently saving for a canon M50 MK1 (looks like a Mk2 now as its been discontinued)

But I'll be using it for other interests and will able to add other lenses in time.

To be honest, I don't know about an infrared function on the G10 as I use the programmable timer. I could never get on with an extra gadget to mess about with, wether or not it being IR or a bulb shutter press mechanism. The G6 may have been one of the only cameras in the range with IR function. Maybe somebody else could advise?

Julian - I have a Panasonic Lumix G6, which connects to an app on my phone. Thus, it has both a flip screen, and remote control (the viewfinder image is also on the phone). The camera's been superseded a few times since it came out, so not expensive second-hand.
