In my quest to try and prevent Canoes taking hold of a free stretch of the river Dearne, I am being told that the the EA cannot stop Canoe's using the river.
Currently the river has no official access points in and out of the water and it would be fair to say that access is difficult.
Currently the river is not paddled by canoes but the EA responsible for the river is sympathetic to canoes as part of their new recreation policy.
The vast majority of the river is free to fish and most of the banks are owned by the EA although it is not a navigable river, and if you believe the EA free to paddle.
Does anyone have a view on whether the EA have any power to stop canoes on the river.?
