Calling all 1.5tc Torrix owners........

I'm looking at a Torrix 1.5tc in an 11 foot length for smaller rivers like the Kennet and Loddon. Does anyone fish these rivers with this exact rod and would you say you have ever felt undergunned in normal river conditions?

I'm puling my hair out over the 1.5/1.75 choice, having fished both in various makes.

I know a 12 foot 1.75 Torrix is probably going to be the default answer but I just wondered how much 'grunt' the 1.5 11 footer has and I can't get my hands on one to try it.

I have read the countless articles on test curves but just wanted some opinions on this precise rod if possible......

Thank you!!

Both the 11ft 1.5 and 1.75 are fantastic rods, two of my mates use them, but the 1.75 is perfect for all of it,and brilliant on smaller rivers .
You will not be disappointed ,and while both have plenty of grunt, you will find the extra power a real plus where real big fish are a possibility, which is everywhere these days, not forgetting rogue Carp.
Personally I love 11ft rods, and the shorter length means that power is more assessable and easier to exert, plus bankside foliage and trees are less problem, and playing fish .

I agree with Chris, having tried all Torri in 11' 1.5, 1.75 and 2lb tests.
The 1.5 has been described as the Torrix Avon by Steve Harrison in his blog.
Would probably go for the 1.75 in your case, but I actually use the 2lb mostly on the BAvon - my personal choice for the slightly heavier rod. I also use the 1.75 as is or with a spliced quiver tip.
11' footers are great - for the reasons that Chris has mentioned.
Cheers

got a friend who uses a torrix 11ft 1.75 he rates it highly

Bob built me an 11 ft 2lb test torrix and it's lovely, but if i had my time again, I'd probably go for a 1.75.

11ft rods are definitely a benefit when fishing smaller rivers, for the reasons mentioned...

Hi,Just to cloud the water.....i have a Torrix 1.75, 12 foot and my main rivers are thr Kennet and Loddon, fishing for barbel in summer and switching to chub early November onwards. The above rod is very powerful with a through action and clearly too much for chub and as the two river are narrow and generally only need a small amout of lead there is another option.

Harrison do a 1.25lb Torrix which has a more powerful butt section than the 1.75 and also comes with a quiver option which is great for chub fishing.I know its all down to personal preference but this I feel is the best piece of kit
and the 12 foot version gives a little more control close in

Just a queastion on the technical spec here, does the 11 foot 1.5, 1.75 and 2lb TC use the same butt section.
Interested in a smaller rod too, but want the power in the butt.

Jon,
Technically the 11' and 2lb are slightly different and generally butts and tips are not interchangeable - the spigot also varies slightly which also makes it possible to visually differentiate between the two butts. However a tweak maybe possible to make a twin tip hybrid. I have been using one of these for a season now and no problems.

The 11' 1.5 - I have some 1.75 tips that fit, but I'll have a more detailed look tomorrow.

Cheers
Bob

Many thanks for the responses guys. Looks like the 1.75tc it is then! Is an 11foot 1.75 going to be more powerful than the 12 foot equivalent, or is it like Chris says, it's just quicker to exert the power due to the shorter length?

Cheers,

Neil
