just logged out and I see it, log in and I don't...I must have put an ignore on the whole thread??
I've looked at this and I don't think there's an option to ignore a thread. But there is an option to ignore a user.
If you have, deliberately or otherwise (fat finger on a mobile) ignored a user who started a thread you will not see that thread.
I tested and it would appear to fit your symptoms.
Click on your account icon and un-ignore the user.

yes my fat fingers ignored one person, removed the ignore and can now see the thread in barbel talk
