Cabbages.

Cabbages what they like to fish amongst?.
Being a Notherner one has been spreading his wings and travelling to new venues. Hence one is full of cabbages, dotted with occasional gravel.

Cheers.

Steve.

They are most excellent to fish in, amongst or near.

I like to fish just off the back end of cabbages if I can help it, they always grow in gravel and fish love to feed in amongst them.

Dropping a bait right in the middle of them can work aswell.

used to fish just over them on a canal, used to get some nice perch, the odd carp and bream and chub.

Cheers for the replies. Out of curiosity what are the make up of cabbages like on mainlines and hook lengths. I use fairly heavy gear and I'm hoping that they will slice through them.

Cheers.

Steve.

Used to bomb through them with a big 3oz lead and bait all pva'd up on the Bristol Avon. Scary at first but it works.

full of cabbages in wigan:eek:

That's unkind to your fellow Wiganers Mark :D....and please tell me you don't have cabbage pies :p

Steve...as said, cabbages hold fish and can be fished into. In my experience, they usually mean chub and carp and bream more often than barbel, but everything shelters in them at some time.

Cheers, Dave.

i had plenty of barbel from vicinity of cabbage, in fact i used to try to pinpoint it with bream a long way back knowing barbel would probably be not far behind

So have I John...but I have had even more chub, carp and bream from cabbage patches, especially in very extensive cabbage areas, where they predominate. Mind you, it may vary from river to river.
