Sad news today that the master rod builder and angler Bruce Ashby lost his fight against cancer. A true gentleman and without his help would never had the confidence to start up my custom rod business. RIP mate
 
Oh dear, that is very bad news Ian. Another of the greats comes to an untimely end, so very sad for all those he leaves behind.

Another one taken early by that filthy disease, I never met the chap but knew of him by reputation, 2013 is turning into a bad year, I'll be glad to see the back of it.
 
RIP Bruce, you built my finest Barbel rods. Lovely fellow, condolences to his family.

I'm gutted, met Bruce on several occasions especially when I was active with The Carp Society with regional meetings....really nice bloke, sincere condolences to his family.....I bet him and Alan Smith are sitting on a cloud chewing the cud as we write.....RIP Bruce
