Many years ago when fishing the Wye on Mike Taylors stretch at Bredwardine, I heard footsteps behind me and as it was thrashing down with rain (remember that stuff?) and thinking it was my mate I yelled out "come down and sit under my brolly, you'll be getting soaked".
With that a face appeared round the edge of my brolly to which I said "blimey, you're Bob James" to which he said "I know".
Brilliant!
He did sit under my brolly (photo to prove to my mates) and chatted away.
Due to "A Passion for Angling" he was a bit of a hero to me.
Yeah - seems like a nice chap. People who put their heads about the parapet are always easy targets (I'm referring to the fishing in the closed season incident a few years ago).
Passion for Angling is just a class above.
It should be compulsory viewing for anyone entering a tackle shop for the first time.
