Caught at a public park lake in Liverpool, by young Andy Tsang, it wasn,t weighed, anyone like to guess ?

We'll need the services of the forums 'Fingers/nostril' expert Mr P Thomas to be sure Derek, but I'd say between 6 & 7lb

No idea on the weight but if you tell me that the captor, Andy, is 7ft tall then I am going to have nightmares. What a creature.

Having caught a 6 1/4lb eel, and having big hands, I have to say that is a long but very skinny eel, the captor is not far from touching fingertips of his right hand. Mine was a little shorter but a lot thicker, I would guess around 4lb to be honest

It is also held very much at arms length

Ian, i promise you, he wasn,t trying to make it look bigger. He was s******* himself in case it bit him. :D

I'm not suggesting foul play Derek, he is probably holding it as far from his body as possible for the reason you mention, it is obviously very close to the camera and hence the prospective looks weird.

I would suggest looking at his right hand, it has a diameter of around 2 inches. The fact that his elbows are the same width apart as his body with his hands facing upwards, his hands could not be much more than about 24 inches apart (try it at home), unless his elbows are double jointed. So the eel might be 36 inches long. I think 4lb would be a good guess. I'm no expert though, could be 6lb too :)

I not been lucky to a 6 just yet but had a few over 4 lb and I say thats over 4 lb if you look at the 4.7 thats on this forum this is bigger in my opinion.

A great specimen whatever the size, it is a good length for its girth, has real potential, I'll go to 5 :)

Worth keeping an eye on in five or six years time if it stays in the water........eels can be very transient and don't get recaptured often.

i thought it wouldnit be too long before we saw it on here,:p
no to be fair mate it was good to see other pics as well, howlong before we see his first barbel mate,
hope you are well & give mine & ceri's best to andy when you see him :)
i mght post some of ceri's barbel on the women barbel anglers thread soon.

At first I thought about 5lb but then the head on pic showed it to be nice and thick.
So maybe a very big 5 or a 6? Not too sure with eels, haven't that many big ones! So only going on pictures I've seen with weights given in the pics.
