Belle's 1st fish..

Took the twins fishing last week, and Belle caught her first ever fish, a lovely common of about 7-8lb off the top on a floating dog biscuit. Great fun! She waiting patiently with rod in hand for nearly 30 mins before she got the take. Admirable patience for a 7-year old.

Her sister, however, was the star of the day, whilst I was busy helping Belle play her fish, Flo very efficiently and without prompting, got the unhooking mat out, unrolled it, placed the forceps by the side of it and filled an empty bait tub with lake water! A real team effort!

We had a junior fishing match recently, the kids fished for 2 hours . In our club under 12's fish free with an adult member, 12-16's have to join but are £1 for the season . last season we had 85 junior members. The kids had a great time all got a medal and for a few it was their first time fishing. Ben a 5 year old had a carp over 12lb which nearly pulled him in and was his first fish on a fishing rod he also had roach. Another 7 year old had 12lb of bream and Roach. Riley (7)had a bream and some roach for just over 5lb .Twins Sophie and Chloe (7) shared a rod and had 5 lb of roach. All of the younger ones caught plenty . A couple of older ones who tried for Carp blanked. The looks on the kids faces when they got their prizes and medals. Dennis brought his grandson for his first time who now wants to go every week. Bens Dad said it was his best fishing day ever seeing his boy get the Carp. A great day was had by all with plenty of fish, food, medals and smiling faces, hooked for life.
