Hi all, in case you weren't aware, I just wanted to draw your attention to the Barbel Society's National Spawning Survey. I think this is a significant and important endeavour that should provide valuable insight into the dates and times of barbel spawning activity. Some significant data has already been gathered and over time this will help build a national register of barbel spawning sites which will help to improve our understanding of barbel recruitment factors, as well as enable better protection of those sites.

The success of an initiative such as this depends wholly on gathering as much data as possible and it may be an exercise that can be coordinated though clubs and syndicates-whatever works really.
As a group, we can debate and argue many things but for me, this should be a no brainer and something we should all get behind if at all possible.
