Hi, after ten years of just pike fishing ive decided to have a crack at barbel fishing, i will still be fishing for pike but only in the winter i find throwing lures all day in the summer very tedious, anyway because iam new to barbel fishing iam wondering which rod to go for in which i mean either a quiver or a rod that as two tips iam getting different opions on this and i dont want to be forking out again because the one ive got is not want i want, also would you start with one or do peaple use two as you can see iam totally naive when it comes to barbel fishing.I will be fishing mainly yorkshire rivers if this makes a differance to the rod thanks ste.

I suggest on the yorkshire rivers, that if just starting out you could do worse than fish just the one rod. Not sure if you need a quiver as tip watching and touch legering with one rod would cover that. I fish half-a-dozen different Yorkshire rivers at times, and found that a 1.5TC was undergunned in tight swims or higher water. I rarely use a quiver. And for the price a 1.75lb TC Wychwood Rogue Barbel 12 is good value. Depends on your price range. Many on here will suggest you go the extra and get a Harrison based rod. I prefer Free Spirit Advanced Specialist (http://www.freespiritfishing.com/the-spirit-specialist-advanced-barbel-and-specialist-rods). Shame they dont do an 11' 1.75lb TC.

As nice as the Free Spirits are I would go for the Wychwood...It's a cracking rod for the money...some good deals to be had on e bay....
