Archie Braddock Bait flavourings

I’m down to the last dregs of Archie’s Barbel Magic .Have had a lot of success using it to flavour meat .Does anyone know if theirs anything similar around now ? It’s got a very familiar aroma but I can’t workout what it is .
Cheers.

Have you got his book by any chance... You might be able to glean some info from there possibly?

I spoke to him personally a year or two back, asking for some recipe ideas, most of which he said can be brought from Asian food stores, he just said to experiment & to use his book as reference...

No problem. Let us know how you get on.😊

I seem to recall Shaun Harrison (Freespirit affiliated) brought out similar spice blends too, then I think Shaun told me or maybe it was Archie (?) saying that he sold the blends receipes books over to him.

Still have a tub or two of his blends I think, I'll have a look tomorrow...

I never did well with the bottled liquid attractors from Archie.... But the powdered spice blends were brilliant!

It was all really good stuff. I preferred the liquids, particularly the 'surprise' and 'magic' ranges.

A mate and I did some testing for Archie - which was very interesting.

Im not sure you could easily replicate the liquids, but the powders would be fairly straightforward.

A visit to any decent Asian supermarket will present unlimited options for bait enhancement and you’ll soon see how much we overpay for bait additives. A 500g bag of Chinese 5 spice is a superb coating for meat and dusting powder for maggots and likely last you a couple of seasons for about £2. Same with miso paste.
Not to mention the home cooking benefits 😋
Edit- if you pike fish with deadbaits then plenty of fishy liquids/oils to play with too….winterised oils are not specific to baits, it’s just a process that removes impurities to stop oils crystallising and many food grade oils are ‘winterised’
