For those that dont know about tides, there are 2 types of tides, spring tides and neap tides, springs are always higher than a neap tide, and adversely lower to boot aswell. neaps are when there is little fluctuation between a high and low tides. Springs always come on a full or a new moon, neaps on a half moon. I always keep an eye on the moon to give me an idea whats happening in relation to the tides, after a while you will find out that some moon phases will affect your catches, but thats another story. Also the tides are hampered if there is some water on the river too, when this happens during a spring tide the flood water takes a long time to get to the humber and some times never starts to run off properly until a neap tide.

Also at this time of year the highest tides come shortly after the equinox on the 21st March so the tides are generally higher leading up to this point.
