Another Rod debate 🤣 sorry

I know it’s been discussed before, but given some of the old threads and people may have moved on and more up to date with there usage of rods.

Rods I own and wouldn’t part with most are as follows :-

3.25 century c2 12ft - carp - France big water hauling

3 century c2 10ft - carp - every other carp application there 3.25 are just to much for, tbh these are real sweet spot for uk carping on most places other than range on big bits they handle small to big fish very well.


2lb hi s barbel 12 foot - using for tench on gravel pits and barbel on rivers etc ( haven’t fallen in love with it yet )

1lb chub speclist - using for my perch and chub fishing.

Mark tunley 11.6 multi tip - for cruician and bream perch on the quiverz

Mark tunley dark carbon float 1lb - not a big float fisherman this covers my needs for most things.

Greys 8ft quiver - great fun good stream / small river rod

This is where I don’t know if I need to or just want to feel a gap the does not or does exsist with some 11 foot rods

It would be useful for the pit with 11 foot rods with over hangs etc I do like an 11 foot rod so thinking ether torix in 1.75 or 2lb. I like a fast rod not so through action I reserve that for my sampler avon rods I like something that recovers quick and bends progressively under a good load I’m not in love with Avon bend to the but rods in higher test curves but that’s just me. I like to have a bit umph in rods at times, will be used for feeders / on buzzers etc for tench and the themes for barbel etc basically the same use as the hi s but I’m not falling for that rod at present ( it happens) so the 11 foot option may replace it.

I also have my eye on some 1lb his 11 foots but I really think they’re sit unused most of the time but would be great sport on small carp waters. I think have just talked out their need !

My conundrum is that I may render the 12ft useless with the torix but happy to try or they may just slit in nicely in the armoury or replace the 2lbs 12 hi s.

Thoughts welcomed on 11ft rods for general specimen fishing not application specific around the 1.75 to 2.25 etc I’m looking to use the rod as an alrounder at the given test curve as apples for a target species.

Thank you Neil any idea the man differences between the two 1.75 vs 2lb is it test curve or different actions ?
 
As Neil said above if you want something faster action but far from a poker go 11ft torrix specialist.

If you’re after something more traditional 11ft the GTI is a belter

I’ve used both and caught on both
The actions are really quite close and I believe they share the same but section. The 2lb would be a little stiffer in the tip for taking on a bit extra payload.
I love em both. Couldn’t pick a favourite genuinely.

Ues from your collection Ii can see that...but the 11ft Torrix is such a versatile rod sensitive and responsive and ok for chub too. If I cast my mind back far enough I have had barbel over 15 ibs and never felt undergunned. It makes a great rolling meat rod too. I have never used a 12 so cant say but others say oys quite a bit different
Currently using my Sliwa Dave Mason 10.6 and love it...great for chub and just in case of a barbel too. But dont worry about the 11 Torrix being weak its not.

Is the 10,6 good for taming really big doubles Neil?
My lad hasn’t used his yet and I’m just a bit concerned about him chucking a bait out in the nene with it.
Jammy little thing rarely seems to hook anything smaller than 12lb.
 
As a safe bet if them lads recommend a 11’ x 1.75 torrix that’s a good shout and even if it’s not for you , you’ll be able to move it on quickly
I don’t use 11’ rods but I am a massive fan of the 1.25 torrix which according to MT has more power in the butt than a 1.75 but obviously it’s a lot softer in the tip which makes it an excellent chub and barbel rod but casting weights are restricted but…. If you want to use a rod to it’s full potential IMHO it can’t be beaten
I’ve been using them for few seasons now and am used to them but fellow anglers wince at just how much stick I give them but I land a lot more fish using them than with heavier rods as I feel more connected when really applying pressure but they are super forgiving on the lunges
Consequently I’m probably one of the only barbel anglers who doesn’t use a 1.75 rod , maybe once a season for a change but soon revert back
Not saying I’m right it just works for me
If the 1.75 torrix is a similar action but can deal with heavier payloads for bigger rivers like the Thames then it will be awesome
The dark carbon is also a beautiful players rod but might be too through action for you?
I have 2lb torrix and too soon to tell- feels very tippy - can’t see many jobs where I would choose them over a chimera 3 which for a heavy barbel rod is also very forgiving close in but will punch 5oz feeder as far as I need to send them
But I don’t do much gravel pit fishing and the 2lb torrix might be a brilliant tench rod

I do like a tippy rod all my century’s are tippy to be fair and wouldn’t part with them. I like a players rod on my lighter stuff and more speclised.

I just like a little bit of extra when needed

So the weapon of choice is the torix I was half if not more set on it now to chose between the 1.75s or 2lb I had a chimera 2 and didn’t jel with it personally more on the pits that is as when I picked up the odd carp or decent tench in weed I got a run about a bit more than I wanted.
 
Preferred the 2lb Torrix 11' to the 1.75 11' and used the 2lb for the some years on the Bristol Avon and occasional visit to the Kennet.
Always felt totally confident with the 2lb.
Reckon I built more 2lb than 1.75 when building rods.
The butt sections were not common on the 11 footers (unlike the 12 foot 1.75 and 2lb rods) and there were physical and visual differences on the eleven footers. Maybe things changed at some point through the years.

Well I don't really know as yet mate...but Dave Mason reckons it will tame anything in the river.:cool:

Unfortunately, I believe the s range barbel seeker is discontinued now.

I have both torrix and seeker in 11ft 1.75, love both. But if I have to pick one from them, I would go for seeker now, really like the action of the rod.
