Another nail in the coffin of the Thames?

Application for a hydropower development on the River Thames at Abingdon granted by the EA.
Angling Trust not happy.....

Environment Agency Approves Controversial Thames Turbines - The Angling Trust

Steve

This is rife now, and has been highlighted in the Severn Trent area too, these schemes have been installed and FAILED in Norway I think it was.. And yet the Green credentials that these Idiotic plans are supposed to have to satisfy the Environmentalists amongst us will be detrimental to Wildlife, including Otter that the same people campaigned for their reintroduction.

They better sort out the abstraction problem first then, cos they'll need some kind of flow to power the buggers.

I see the dear old EA were there for us again then

I don't know if anybody noticed, but in today's/yesterdays papers there was a report of a landmark ruling by a judge whereby he found in favour of a group of village protesters, AGAINST one of the big foreign owned energy company's, who were planning to destroy the local views by erecting yet another load of massive wind turbines (they already had them blocking their outlook from the other three points of the compass ) Seems the loony greens may be getting the thin end of the wedge rammed up their jacksy at last ;)

Probably too much to ask that the promoters of these ludicrous river turbines end up getting a few splinters the same way :D

Cheers, Dave.

It certainly is a nail in the coffin for the Upper Thames, I fished that weirpool and mill stream when I first started out fishing....not sure what EA stands for anymore Enviroment A****
