Anglers National Line Recycling Scheme

Whilst many of you may know all about this, I hadn't until this morning, but it looks like a really sound idea to me. It's hardly much trouble to pop your disused line in an envelope and post it off, or to drop it into a participating tackle shop next time your picking up some bait.

Some of the stats they quote on the site, certainly made me sit up and think:
  • '400 MILLION METRES - The amount of line discarded per annum if 2 million UK anglers only re-spools 2 reels with 200m of monofilament line once a year. That’s enough to get to the Moon!'
  • '600 YEARS - The amount of time it takes for heavy monofilament to degrade in a landfill.'

Well done to those anglers involved in setting it up, although I do wonder, is this not the sort of thing that we should expect the AT to be organising?

Here's a link to the site: https://www.anglers-nlrs.co.uk/

It is a great idea, every tackle shop day ticket venue should have one of their bins. I'm sure fluorocarbon takes even longer to break down naturally.
