ACE 'Elements' Fine Maggot and Bait needle by Clint Walker

Use maggots? Then you need one of these!

Barbel angling in winter is tough work and often calls for a change in tactics to tempt a bite or two, and many anglers turn to smaller hooks, smaller baits and more delicate rigs. One of more popular and most effective baits in colder months is maggots which are sometimes difficult to rig properly. Conventional baiting needles are often too thick to penetrate tiny baits without bursting them, thus ruining presentation. Gated needles are not sharp enough to get through wrigglers without destroying them and it becomes impossible to withdraw the needle back through them without producing a maggoty mess! So who has the answer? Advanced Carp Equipment (ACE) have marketed a newer, thinner baiting needle designed to get maggots and delicate hook baits onto a hair loop without damage.

Why is this baiting needle different? We could all carry a sewing needle in our tackle box, but how often would you be able to find it with cold, wet hands? The ELEMENTS range is a set of accessories which complement each other perfectly; the MAGGOT AND FINE BAIT NEEDLE consists of a top quality ultra fine stainless steel needle which doesn't rust, deflect or bend, and is mounted in a colourful ergonomically styled 'comfort grip' handle for safety. (You can even get pink!) The needle has an open 'hook' which does not protrude to burst the bait whilst allowing the needle to pick up the hair loop with ease, without catching any braided fibres to destroy the rig. Priced at around £2.99, it's a great addition to your kit.

You can pick up your ELEMENTS range at your local tackle outlet or order online from Advanced carp equipment Look out for more distinctive ACE products coming soon.
