When I first moved to London about nine years ago I was walking a stretch of the Colne in early June when I saw some Barbel feeding on gravel. No doubles but all around 8lb I would have guessed. Then a chub dropped back from streamer weed just above this depression in the gravel. The biggest...
Drove past a section of the Lea today and realised that even though I live in London I've never fished it. It looked lovely and I wanted to change that!
Any suggestions for a place to start? Is Kings Weir worth a look or is it too busy? I prefer a bit of solitude if at all possible! Will only...
Hi folks
After some advice on a stalking rod. Looking at the Greys 7ft or the Wychwood Extricator. Don't want a rod about 9ft & would prefer 7-8ft really. Will use for Barbel but mainly light carping work and even some shore bass spinning. Any advice gratefully received.
Thanks in advance...
I've found them worse this season Dave than last... I think they thrive even more in lower water conditions.
Off down there tonight for a bit... hoping for a clonker!
Great Zander bait!
Loved fishing for them when I did competitions - you could do some great weights when a shoal was in front of you. I've never weighed them but have had them to 2oz+
I use the Gardner net. Apart from the screws working a bit loose every so often it has done great for me. Big enough to rest a large Barbel and I've used it in really tight swims on the Teme and Bristol Avon with no problem.
I didn't have a Barbel on the BA with nipped tails until that time. Then, just as I began to see an otter quite regularly (and I'm a skeptic about otters), I began catching and seeing Barbel caught with tail damage. I agree with Shippo on this.
I've got two that I'm looking to shift - bought them a little while ago and don't need them now. They are both in good condition with two spare spools included with each reel, with 12lb line on the main spool.
£40 each which includes delivery or £75 the pair inc. delivery
I've had some cracking fish up to 12lbs on Team Barbel - a great bait in a number of different rivers. Worked for me on the Bristol Avon, Lower Severn, Teme, Hampshire Avon and Warks Avon. I preferred the smaller barrel baits and paste. Tempted to go back onto them after a while using a...
