Excellent reel. I paid about £220 for my Purist 2 in around 2008/9. I use it for most of my barbelling as the rivers I fish don't usually require a long cast. I like the wide drum. Although I know I shouldn't, I quite fancy the John Wilson one!
Thanks boys,
I like the idea of the Fox X Pod, 2 rods are fine as I only buy one license anyway.
I only wish I had your knack for working around a problem Paul with regards homemade indicators etc!
Hi all,
Usually when I go pike fishing, the venues I fish are soft ground into which I secure bank sticks directly in line with my reel which allows me to clip my Fox drop arm indicators on to.
I am planning on fishing a venue with platforms and hard pegs.
My question is, how can I...

This is quite possibly the pettiest thread I have ever read! A bunch of grown men squabbling like children over something as insignificant as the capture of a fish. It's almost like people have forgotten what going fishing is all about. Please don't turn Barbel fishing into what carp fishing has...
Thanks Darryl, I took the spool off and couldn't see the drag plate, I screwed the drag wheel down and it still didn't appear in the spindle hole. I thought it might be a problem with the springs on the spoke, as even when the drag wheel was fully screwed down, the drag plate still wasn't...
Steven, the slide plate is free to move, I know what you mean about the contact with the spindle. I still cant figure out why it isn't making contact. Its driving me mad.
This may be a long shot but I might aswell give it a go.
I have a Purist 2 centrepin and the adjustable drag wheel on the spoke appears not to be working correctly. The wheel turns fine and compresses the spring that should in turn slow the spin of the spool down, however this does not...
