    New centrerpin

Ha ha - not common enough for me to be aware of it, though I rarely use mine or trot a float.
  2. Richard Parsons

    New centrerpin

I can't imagine how the line gets kinked on a spool, Alan, and would suggest it's more about the line than the reel. 🤔
  3. Richard Parsons

    New centrerpin

I'd look for a narrow drum Aerial, or copy (such as a Fred Crouch). A true centrepin which is marvellous for trotting. Both light and robust.

    SOLD Lewtham "Quest" Sidecast Reel

If anyone wants Terry's I'll sell mine for the same price - and you can have a pair. Bit like Dragon's Den. 🤣 🤣
  5. Richard Parsons

    Wanted Bob James centrepin please

    Ewww - bearings! 🤣

    Burton Mutual.

Nice try, Simon - and thanks to Tom for seconding. It's a case of low expectations easily met. I heard about the missing money and the former chairman's subsequent demise. Find it hard to believe. Though I didn't know the man (who shall remain nameless) personally, he was always very cordial...

    Hexagraph Wanted

Getting ever more expensive, as they're no longer made. Paid £400 for a secondhand Ray Walton Avon No 2, 10 years ago! Still use it all the time - a wonderful rod, whether on the Dove or the margins of the Upper Trent.

    Feeders on the way

Brilliant - thanks Rich! WhatsApp me your bank details, etc, and we'll square it.

    Feeders on the way

Hi Rich - I'll take a batch of nine, if still available? BTW, they look excellent!

    Last trip to the wye

Sorry, no info on the Wye, specifically. You'll find level readings on the EA site - presumably you know the url? Good luck and hope you catch. I'm on the Upper Trent tomorrow, and overnight. Safe to say; you're in with a better chance!

    No longer for sale

Very nice net, Neil. I have one. Perfect for barbel. with a good deep mesh.

    3rb bait

Dare I ask Csongor - are you on the payroll? :D
  13. Richard Parsons

    SOLD Lewtham "Quest" Sidecast Reel

It's a Quest. I have one the same. Superb - though I rarely use it.

Centrepins: A Bit More Variety Needed?

Neither, Paul. The more expensive the reel, the more fish one will catch. It's obvious, innit!

    Braid for Barbel fishing.

I invariably use braid mainline, a soft rod and a centrepin. Besides bite indication (as already mentioned) playing a fish without line stretch is also a different experience. You can 'feel' much more, in terms of fish movement, thus when to give line, etc. It works for me!

    Home Page Picture

It's a wonderful fish, John. Well done!

Centrepins: A Bit More Variety Needed?

Fred Crouch did it fairly successfully for a good few years (I still have a jet and a narrow drum trotter). It's more likely, however, that if any enterprising soul invested in the tools to produce such a reel it would be in the Garry Mills price bracket anyway.
  18. Richard Parsons

    Digital scales

    You're not wrong, Rich! 🤣
  19. Richard Parsons

    Digital scales

Sorry to buck the trend, however I've had my Korums for a decade or more, and they're fab. Lost the battery cover a few years ago, so just cover in gorilla tape. Battery lasts eons! It may be that the manufacturing process has changed and they're now not as good as they once were.
