Many years back, on the Cemex Burghfield stretch of The Kennet, I found myself a couple of pegs away from MB - we were the only two idiots on that stretch thatday. It was very cold and frosty and we both blanked. He came and chatted several times and we discussed bait and tactics etc. Late in...
Thanks Phil, I wasn't sure what spool size it was - already bought one that was too small and then saw somebody selling two for £75!! Have ordered one of what i think is the correct size for £18.
I sent my Shimano baitrunners off for a service a while back - without the spools - and didn't have need for the 4000 aero rear drag baitrunner until now and of course I can't find the spools for it. Anybody know where I might be able to get a couple - pretty please - short of buying another one...
Mole is not a patch on its former self. Carshalton, Brockham and upper parts of Dorking together with parts of Cobham Court and Leatherhead stretches all had barbel but i don't think they are there in the same numbers anymore. But I haven't fished the Mole in probably 15 years so (hopefully) it...
I've decided to offload some older rods that I have either never used or no longer use to free up some space in the shed (and maybe have a more serious look at a Torrix!) They are listed on ebay here:
Fox 12' barbel plus 1.75tc twin tip rod, great tench rod as well | eBay
Wychwood 12' barbel...
Fished the Byford area a couple of times at the start of a season and always caught fish but dependant on the river levels really. Start of this season the river dropped 15 - 18" over the week and the fishing got harder as the week went on. Had mainly chub with the odd barbel - quite a few...
A couple of very skinny chub not a million miles from Hereford. One not quite 2.5lbs and one a tad over 3lbs but looked much bigger in the water. Length but no girth, not a good combination - so I've been told:)
I had a walk around the gardens early in the season and access to the water looked like it could be difficult. The banks on the opposite side of the river looked fairly easy to access and so was used by more than the odd few canoeists to launch into the river.
Lovely gardens though and the...
Brilliant service from Felindre - a couple of weeks ago I ordered a new handle for my 5010 mid afternoon and it arrived the next morning. Always had great service from them.
Quite hot and low water - fished mainly shortish evening sessions, 6 barbel and a few chub and a few missed bites. Was trying upstreaming for the first time and struck at a few instead of winding down - but I'll learn.
