Are we losing our Sixth Sense?

In his book he describes wandering along the bank (G. Ouse?) with his dowsing rod chanting “4lb perch”. Next season I’ll be walking around Fishers Green chanting “20lb barbel…actually any barbel”. Why not, I’ve tried everything else.

Are we losing our Sixth Sense?

I’ve got a copy of his book Pulling Against Fish and whilst it has some very interesting insights into bait, flavours etc, I put it down when I got to the mention of dowsing & sacral chakras.

    Chasing chub....

As Ben said, those dark bronze fish are beauties. A great end to the season mate.

    Chasing chub....

Not seen it with barbel, but definitely with river carp, two or three following the hooked one in. I’ve always wondered if it’s a curiosity thing or competitive feeding, maybe both.

    Spam end of season

Definitely try it. I was out yesterday and down here it was low, gin clear, sunny. In those conditions the wisdom is small baits, small hooks, etc. I’d not had a knock, so on a hunch stuck on a large cube of spam. I didn’t have a chance to put the rod in the rest.

    Continental Purchases

Good luck (remember duty would be on CIF so £105 + €28, but still ok at 2%)

    Continental Purchases

I’d be interested to hear if you get a request for the 2% duty prior to arrival.

    What are you favourites hooks?

A heads up, I used to use them with maggots for barbel until about 2 years ago: That wasn’t a big fish either, although feisty and at close quarters.

    Chasing chub....

I was chasing chub today too, up at Kings Weir testing @Richard Isaacs floats. The floats work great but I caught a very odd chub…

Korum Bait & Bits Bag alternative?

That’s a deal. PM your details and I’ll put it in the post.

Korum Bait & Bits Bag alternative?

If you mean this box, it’s sitting in my spares cupboard doing nothing. Let me know if you want it. I used to have a Greys Kliplok base, brilliantly designed & implemented. I miss the organisation but not the weight!

    Disgorger

I agree with Richard, the Exceed disgorgers are the best out there. I used to have the old yellow ones with hook tyer on the end until I broke/lost them in the drink. I bought a new set Nov last year off Emily on eBay (the white ones, no hook tyer) and they are spot on. I’m pretty sure they...

    Fish Flix

“The Brook” is in the same vein as Above Bedford but looking back at the perch in Claydon Brook. The size and number of those perch was just incredible.

    Centre pin protective pouch

I use these ones from an eBayer, great either on or off the rod. I’ll dig out the link and post it. Edit: EBay link

    Sending a rod .

I remember back in the day when I ordered my first Acolyte online. What with their reputation at the time I was more than a little worried. Anyway, courier arrives with a 4ft long snapped in half cardboard toblerone, crudely taped together. Oh well, I thought they’ve bound to have put it inside...

    Sending a rod .

I wouldn’t say a kettle etc is made from composites; yes it’s made from different materials and parts but that’s not a composite. Something that’s fibres or particles in a matrix most definitely is.

    Sending a rod .

Surely all rods are made of composites?

    New record

Yep totally agree. I’ve fished FG seven times this season and had one tiny chub, one small perch and a huge crayfish (I had my phone out looking up Thermidor recipes it was that big). Earlier in the year (Sept I think) I saw a large shoal of fingerling chub just down from the Bailey bridge. On...
