    Wading trousers

I only have the one pair of greys wader boods atm, I got my normal size in them and they fit perfectly even if I wear a thick pair of socks. I am looking to buy another set of boots to go with the new wychwoods I got. I have been taking a close look at the simms tributary boots, some people say...

    Wading trousers

I was trying to find a decent set of waist waders for years, I couldn't find a set worth a carrot! For the majority of my wading I wear aigle rubber thight waders which are excellent. I fold em over when walking between swims but when its cold in winter I might leave them up. I've had a set of...

    New Normark Rods

For sure, wally casting does test the guides, although, if they arn't up to it then they arn't fit for purpose. I am interested in how your preston rods guides hold up to the casting, playing numbers of decent fish and of course those clonkers you get!

    Line Longevity

I tried using various braids numerous times many years ago, power pro was my preferred braid. I dislike braid for trotting a float, it has to many downsides....horrific noise when going back and forth through the guides, not as tough as mono when grated on rocks whilst under pressure, seems to...

    New Normark Rods

Fingers crossed for you the guides on your preston rod are better than the ones on my scope rod and they stand up to your requirements 👍.

    Line Longevity

I remove my line after every session when using my centrepin reel. I usually spool up about a hundred yards of line on a reel for a session. Because I use bulk spools of sensor costing about 11 quid the price of a hundred yards of line is a few pence, so negligable. On a good days fishing my...

    New Normark Rods

Rich, I hope the guides stand up for you when you get back on the bank and start catching some of the larger fish that you usually do. It will be interesting to hear how the tip guide and butt guide stand up to numbers of hard fighting fish. My scope rod has minima guides fitted, but the tip...

    New Normark Rods

No doubt you'll get round to putting a bend in both of them shortly Graham 🙂.

    New Normark Rods

I think the power version of the daiwa conny 14ft model is 205 grames. I've no idea how powerful the Avenger 14ft rod is, but it wouldn't surprise me if the conny has the edge on it. I'm certainely not slating a rod i've never even seen (in the normark avenger) i'm just saying I would have...

    New Normark Rods

At 14ft the avenger is as heavy as my 15ft daiwa rod which I thought was a bit on the heavy side as far as modern rods go. I'm surprised at that, I expected them to be more inline with the drennan acolyte rods.

    Tench 2025

Well in Graham! They both look like good sized fish, but the bottom one looks to be quite a heavy one.

Nash Scope 10ft 1.75tc mint with Nash Scope 2 rod bag

He did the same thing to me a bit back when I posted a centrepin reel up for sale.....an ignorant man! Regarding Jons rod, I have one myself, it's a little bit more powerful at 2.25 test, brilliant little rods and very versatile.

What the hell is wrong with people 😡😡

Neil, many years back when I keepered "Anything" that dared look sideways at a gamebird was eliminated, be it fur or feather. I know of keepers today who still have that old mindset. As a young kid on the ribble I used to see rows of cormorants lined up across from ribchester front with their...

What the hell is wrong with people 😡😡

Only just clocked this Neil, the above kind'a reminds me of the attitude of many anglers towards otters, cormorants, herons etc etc. I think the majority of anglers appear to want to kill anything that poses a threat to a fish, but same as the peregines those fish eating predators are only...

What the hell is wrong with people 😡😡

Really, forgive me Kevin, I only kept, flown and bred birds of prey for many years along with a group of my friends. We had quite a few different species between us. Seriously, don't belive everything you read on google etc.

What the hell is wrong with people 😡😡

I didn't read the report, but how are they so certain it was done by a person? The eggs could have been koshed by a crow, raven, maggie etc?

    New tip ring

I’ve only ever replaced several tip guides and used hot melt glue each time. Very easy to alter the position of the guide if you don’t get it perfect first time.

    Chasing chub....

I had a few hours on a still water today, the water contains some quite nice chub, but also some very imaciated ones. The set up was a pin as usual, 8lb mono straight through to a size 10 hook and a large piece of bread. I did manage to catch one chub which was as thin as a lat and had a serious...

A ban on lead in fishing?

Yes Jim, I find there is much more chance of the tin type shot pinging off than the lead. I don't really use many saller than no1 so not so many ping off in that size and larger which is ok for me since I literally only use one at a time as a dropper shot below my olivettee. The anchor double...
