Spotted this today and thought it may be of interest to someone on here.....
I got one of those new legasy normark avenger rods myself and made my own video of it in use.
I found the rod to be decent, but imo it was no better than the original MKII avenger rods which came out straight after...
Yes, but the fish hardly fit in the nets, I mean the tail half of the fish is often sticking right out same as the barbel in the opening post.
So if its a bad thing to do with a barbel.....
I'm a fan of drennan, so im not slating them by putting this video up on this thread.
It appears that the anglers in the video seem to like using small landing net heads.
These may be of interest to you Jack.....
They may cope better than most with what you describe due to being 5 layer bottoms.
Tom Casey has a set for sale on bfw which are brand new and unused due to him getting the wrong size.
I know he got another set that fit him now lol. I have a set...
The browning sphere splced rods were mentioned recently on a thread regarding a 15ft grayling rod.
So, this is a 14ft browning sphere match rod which I found to be ideal for small to larger species on the river.
Ive targetted grayling with the 14ft Sphere match rod for years now and its perfect...
Sounded as though the barbel was an unexpected catch, but, I thought match anglers had several landing nets at had, possibly he forgot his larger ones?
I wonder what rod he was using, it hardly bent lower than the top section!
Just to add another spanner to the works 🙂.
The spere waggler rods in 13 and 14ft.
I have both the spliced and wagglers and much prefer the wagglers over the splices.
I have used both the spliced rods and the waggler rods to trott a float for barbel and caught them to early double without...
The Daiwa Dave Harrell tourny float rods have a mix of cork and eva handles. The eva ( if that is what it is) is fitted where you hold the rod and is shaped nicely and very comfy in my hand. The shape of it is my favourite out of all my float rods. It does seem to be standing up to usage ok...
No, I haven't had any experience of them, but i've heard some good comments about them from friends who have.
As far as i'm aware they are rated to 6lb which should be well powerful enough for the biggest grayling swimming.
I got the old discontinued tournament pro bu 15 footer because it's...
Thankyou Etienne for the nice reply.
At the end of the day you deffo don't have to spend so much money on a centrepin reel to go fishing and enjoy yourself. There are many cheaper options to use which are perfectly fine, a couple of examples being the okuma aventa pro, or the okuma sheffield...
I wasn't sure where to post this but I use them for barbel so thought Barbel talk may be the best place.
Obviously if it isnt appropriate please delete it.
I know the forum has some centrepin reel fanatics so this may be of interest to them 🙂👍.
