Deffo! Excellent quality content, well filmed and loads to go at. You only have to join for as long as you need to watch what you want (1 month min) and is easy to cancel once you’ve done with it. You can re-activate it a few months later when new content has built up. Well worth it for the...
‘Sixth sense’ is just good watercraft & confidence i think? I feel i was better at it 30 years ago but dont put it down to old age or technological advances. Back then i had literally 100’s of venues to go at in my local area and spent the old closed season trying to decide what the years...
Every now & then, whilst fishing, you look up and the scene grabs you. Everything is just perfect and you forget about the fishing for a few seconds whilst you take it all in. You seem to have them moments more than most Dave! Very lucky fella!
The Tamers turned up today. Nice looking rods that are obviously well made but they do seem a bit ‘sloppy’ for my liking (as Huanzhou suggested) They might be fun to use so will give them a go when the season starts. I’ve chucked a few leads around the garden (had the usual “you wont catch there...
I dont mind a soft rod as i fished for Bream & Tench on the meres for years and quite like to feel the fight right through to the reel seat as long as it will still chuck a 3&4 oz feeder out. If not, standby for a couple of ‘nearly new’ rods for sale! 🤣 They should be turning up today……🙏
Thanks Michael, i was a bit worried about the action and hoped they would be similar to what i had. The picture seems to show they will fit the bill nicely as i wont get a bend in them until the season starts unless i give them an outing for the Tench.
Didn’t realise how attached i was to the Guru rods until i came to replace them. They’ve been great and done everything i’ve asked of them. They are well made, the guides are great and the action when playing a fish is sublime. They might be a bit soft for some people as they keep bending but...
Yes not for me either tbh. I find they get in the way & prefer an old school apron when trotting but might be of use to the Perch lads that dropshot or for pre baiting maybe?
Just realised that the FS i quickly ‘waggled’ in the dark on the carpark at work was a 1.25 specialist and not a 1.75 tamer!
A different animal completely so am still interested in a pair. Cant really find anything better than what i’m using without upping the budget a bit!
The only other rod...
I’ve actually bought him a pair of the 4000 Pulzars (new). They feel a lot better than the Shimano ST and if they are anything like the Inception & LS versions i use for Piking, they will be fine. Better line lay than Shimano and the freespool can be set to almost like an open bail arm. Think...
No lol, i wont spend that sort of money tbh! One, i really dont think it’s needed & two, i fish for everything and have a garage full of rods and reels. If i fished exclusively for Barbel, i might entertain it but i might get sidetracked by perch or roach or Tench (etc) and not use them again...
Just had a quick waggle of a FS tamer in the car park at work and wasnt overly impressed tbh. Think i would have been a bit under impressed if i had ordered them. My Guru twin tips feel a better rod 🫤. The drennans dont look worth the money (sadly as i love Drennan gear) i had 3lb powermesh Pike...
As mentioned in another thread, i’m setting my son up for Barbel so have decided to give my Guru 1.75 rods which i think are great rods tbf.
If i’m replacing mine, i may as well upgrade slightly and was thinking of Freespirit Barbel Tamers 1.75 as they are about the limit i would spend. They...
