All 3 models (OC/D/Thunnus) are live bait/spin reels designed for salt water anglers.
We barbel guys don’t really give them much of a hard life at all and being completely honest the upgrades from a OC to a D are largely irrelevant to us really.
Water proof clutch, few grams lighter, and I...
Cheers Jim.
Certainly very uncommon to find unused examples but there has been a decline in interest in the older 2000’s since the release of the newer version which hit the stores in June
I think people are now waiting for those to come out and the older ones being sold are struggling to...
I like the rods and reels to be identical for no other reason than they feel the same act the same and have the same limitations same clutch speeds same baitrunner settings.
Nothing whatsoever about image for me it’s about consistency and knowing my gear. 2 different set ups fished together...
Yes that’s correct this iconic rod in ultra rare condition has been in the world since the early 90’s and never seen the bank. Probably stuck in a collection for the last 30 odd years
I only bought it simply because….. well it’s rarity and an opportunity presented itself.
I’m not going to use...
Put it in with a dropper Alan, do it as the light is dropping and double up on your offerings.
that will then get plenty of time for an elusive GO barbel to find it.
It’s been alright so far with 15-20 yarders across to the far bank on the nene for some lumpy chub.
You’re right though it needs a good test out.
I’ll give it a whirl on the Trent and no doubt pick up the odd double but as for the real zoo creatures in the nene in summer and autumn when it’s...
Wallis casting is probably the worst thing for them guides Ian. When you pull down for a 30 yarder you don’t half put some friction on. I’ve burned my thumb doing it before when the line is warm and dry
You’re right mate I do need to give it a better test before being completely satisfied. It won’t be used on the nene ever. I don’t believe it’s up for that as strong as it feels but I do hope to get it out on the middle and maybe some sections of the tidal Trent this coming summer.
If the...
The latest 14 ft power float from Preston is extremely similar to an Sm2xp in terms of stiffness and action type.
I was reserved about the minima guides on it but so far they’ve been golden.
As a slider man yourself Jon, it would be worth a look because 4 turners are gonna fly through those...
I’m with you there 100% jon the only weight in a float rod especially on the longer side that I’d be interested in is sections separately
I took a 215g float rod, made it 185g and it was horrible I had to put 15g back into the handle to make it feel much nicer and lighter on the nose end...
What do you mean by upgraded worm shaft Rob. How has that been upgraded?
These reels are as standard oscillating the spool by the use of a worm shaft. If that has been replaced, what makes the new one an upgrade please?
It’s bad form to openly tarnish a man’s classified thread Jim.
And that’s not on either. You can’t just throw up alternatives in someone’s personal advert
