    New Normark Rods

People have different names for them but basically Graham that’s the mk1. The very first incarnation of the 3 float rods looked like those with full cork handles, sliding bands and double legged guides.

I’d expect the feeder rod to comfortably cast a stated payload Alec and I’d expect it to be an accurate and reliable statistic indeed because casting weight is extremely relevant when it comes to feeder rods. Especially those with multiple tip strengths. In the float rod game it’s way less...

I don’t know about the new ones Stuart but in terms of the team 2000’s i would say no the acolyte plus would align much better with the avenger in terms of action, power and suitable line ratings. The titan 2000 is more like the acolyte ultra imo.

Masterline didn’t gobble up normark but they including normark were one of a number of brands under the rapala umbrella. Masterline were what normark fell back on to develop the rods. I don’t know what order everything went down in but at this transition point around 2001 ish. GS and OT left...

I take this statistic with a very large pinch of salt. A good example is my Preston supera x float is rated to cast 12g. My sphere is rated to 30g I’ve got a shimano rated to 25g iirc It’s just made up bollocks imo. an accurate description of the action along with a min and max main line rating...

There’s no risk at all with this rod. It is as strong as carbon fibre can possibly get. I have 2 of them. Between them they have quite literally been to hell and back. One of them has tamed a known nene fish which knocks close to 15lb in summer and both have extracted 12’s and 13’s out without...

    New Normark Rods

The tsi is the 2nd rod I felt quite comfortable tackling double figured barbel on in the river nene and being completely honest it was only Down to the fact that I owned 2 at time, paid little for them and if I broke one it wouldn’t be the end of the world so i didn’t hesitate with it. I had a...

    New Normark Rods

There’s a couple of spots on the river nene where I have been lucky enough to encounter an odd barbel on float tackle which I believe would be a true test of a power float rod’s actual strength. So far I’ve only been brave enough to try 3 rods and only 2 have really been put under maximum...

Opinion/user reviews of the Vass 700 waders

I used a set of e700 vas waders for a full season and found them to be very good on the most parts. They are incredibly robust. You would need to push a sharp fishing hook with a bit of force to penetrate through them. The material is definitely suited to the wader that would climb down rocky...

I absolutely agree mate. I think they counter each other a lot of the time because to my mind power = pressure you can apply to a fish and to do that the rod or lever against you needs to be as short as possible but obviously not break

I know for your specific type of fishing, the amount of power or stiffness in a float rod determines pretty much everything but it’s not the case for other people particularly if fishing for other things on other venues. I personally don’t see a stiffer float rod to always be a better one...

    Verulam Angling

It was caught on the members section. I did a full season on fishers green River Lea. Afew years ago I concentrated most of my efforts in the upper most swims not too far from where kw members section ends. It’s a beautiful section with a lovely set of fast S bends and stacks of features to...

I don’t know how hard it is to get in but yes potentially you could catch record breaking barbel on one of their waters because they have the fishers green consortium which is just a short walk down from kings weir stretch where the current record is held. It’s a hard water. Barbel are massive...

What’s the reason Huanzhou that makes the avenger that much better than the acolyte for you? As we know the acolyte specimen is lighter, comes in 4 dedicated lengths for a start

That was kinda my point. I know the spheres are capable rods but having a stepped up version would complete them for me.

    New Normark Rods

In general I like to try out the latest thing but quite often the hype can sometimes be bigger than the actual experience. Acolytes certainly are not old hat but when theres talk of new normarks being released, that is going to create quite a stir and prick a lot of peoples ears up. until...

Anyone who has the avenger. How does it compare in action and power to other high end power float rods? What strength of main line would you feel comfortable running up it? I’ll be looking at a 15ft version if they release one and I was just wondering where it might fit into my fishing. I know...

I really believe you would like the Preston supera X power float at 14ft Jon. Obviously I can’t say for sure so a waggle would definitely be required as a minimum but it definitely ticks a lot of boxes for you. It’s especially good with sliders and stop knots having the larger bored high stand...

Leeda Blue diamond 13ft specimen float.

I had the 12ft version some years ago. What a rod it was. True players waggler float rod and as slim as your little finger. It was awesome for a bit of tenching on the outside of the pads.

    Heat!

Bang on Jim. Dissolved oxygen levels in the water drop with the sunlight because aquatic plants, algae and weed etc stop producing oxygen at night.
