    Pulled out

I have a couple of questions: Why do you think that you are getting a better catch rate with Fluocarbon hooklengths? I was always under the impression that a soft braid (not coated) was the least likely to spook the fish if they touch it with their fins, apparently it 'feels' similar to weed...

Andy, Are you able to pay via paypal? If not will you be adding that capability? Michael

    Hooklength line?

I have used ESP stripteaze on several rocky swims on the Severn & Wye with no problems and its dead easy to use. I would normally use Drennan Sinkbraid but on these type of rocky swims it gets cut up very badly.

    Modifying avon tops?

Yes, like Colin I fish some smaller rivers were it helps to have a white tip to contrast against far bank trees & bushes.... However I dont feel comfortable painting the tip (without making a mess!!) so i wrap plumbers PTFE tape around the last 12", its very light so does not affect the feel...

    Problem with baby baitrunner 2500

I have not had any of the problems you indicate on my 2500, I am not however happy with the line lay on the spool it puts too much line towards the front of the spool. I probably use my 4000's much more and have not had any problems with those either.

Home Cooked Hemp - How should it look!!

I have just received a bag of CC More hemp seeds to cook at home and have now cooked my first batch, but am unsure if I have ended with the right result. I put 5 kg of seed into a cool box and covered it with boilig water, added some bicarb of soda and closed the lid and left it for 24 hours...

    fake baits

They DO work. I have watched some of Bob Roberts DVD's (Barbel ways & days) and they have some amazing underwater footage which show Barbel feeding. What seems to happen is that they take in most of the particles on the bottom and then 'sift out' what they want to 'eat' and blow out the...

    fake baits

Lee Try using superglue gel rather than standard glue, thats what I use with no problems on the take, I have caught more than 5 fish on one set of casters. I glued 2 side by side then layed the hair on top of them adding a bit mor gel and then glued the third caster on top, leave for a couple...

    Quiver/ Rod Holdall

I use one of two at the moment: Korum 2 rod quiver - nice and light, will carry two rods, rest, brolly etc. It has nice strap with plenty of adjustments and is well balanced and a carrying handle which is quite useful. :) Shimano 3 rod quiver - again nice and light but takes 3 rods (sometimes...

    which baitrunner???

I have a pair of DL4000FA's and they are absolutely fantastic reels, great baitrunner and very smooth front drag, can't recommend them enough. I also have a 2500 baitrunner and would recommend you stay away from them, they are too small and light for barbeling and I am not at all happy with...

    fake baits

Leon, Fished the Severn today and tried fake casters for the first time. I started with 3 real casters superglued onto the hair and had 5 barbel in the first couple of hours, then switched to three fake casters again superglued onto the hair and had another 8 barbel and 4 chub over the rest...

    Korum

I have to agree that Korum provide excellent customer service. I have had two good experiences recently: I lost one of the adjuster knobs from my accessory chair and emailed Korum asking where I could get replacement...the outcome was that they sent me a replacement free of charge. I...

    How hard is it.....

I agree that there is a lot of truth in the article. Turning back to Barbel the keys of sucess from my, albeit limited sucess, seem to be location, location & location, or basic watercraft. I spend time when not fishing trying to understand were the fish might be, likely swims etc. If they...

    Fluorocarbon hooklengths.

Bob, I've been using the 'bottom' quick clip (Korum Version) for the past 3 years with no problems. I also use the appropraite Korum rig sleeves and have never had on pull off. From what I can see the advantage is that there is a gap to slide the hooklink loop through so there is no contact...

    Bait dropping and roving

I have used the bait dropper on the river Dane for a couple of years now with great results. I only use one rod for both baiting and fishing usually a 1.5lb TC rod, (on bigger rivers like the Dove a 1.75lb TC rod is fine), when I arrive at the first swim I take off the hooklink from the quick...

    Small Baitrunner

Another vote for the 4000 DL's - great reels I also have a 2500FA but find that the line lay is not very good - it tapers badly from the top. I have seen comments on other forums about putting washers under the spool but I cant get the line to lay level :( Never mind i'll stick to the...
