Used to use original PP in 20lb for barbel but tried the Slick 8 in 15lb for light lure fishing. Didn't find it particularly reliable for that so recently switched to Kastking braid which has been super value and had no problems with it, seems far less prone to "wind knots" than PP.

I would certainly buy it if it came back, apart from boilies for barbel it also makes a great paste for crucians, down to about half a bag now which won't last long.

Good thread, I have Specsavers prescription varifocals with polarised lenses, unfortunately they are grey tint so I tend to use my everyday varifocals with brown tinted polarising overglasses for fish spotting. I am due another eye test in a couple of months and will check out ASDA for new glasses.

The same Severn stretch which treated me to a 10 hour blank last year was kinder this year, first barbel came just after 1 am, second one 4 hours later and then a chub before packing up at 7am. All others I spoke to only caught up to about 5am, nothing moving after that.

Time of day is pretty much irrelevant, provided you can find the fish and they're feeding then you will catch. Having said that though I will acknowledge that, on pressured stretches, your chances go up at dusk and into first hour or so of darkness.

I'd agree on that, I have some EyeLevel polarised overglasses in a "copper" tint and they are far better for fish spotting than my grey-lensed prescription Polaroids.

Despite the cold east wind today the tench showed up for me, had 4 in a short (5 hour) session, best one going 6.12 with a backup male of 5.13.
