I'm not sure I agree. If someone is sad enough to lie in the first place for whatever reason, why wouldn't they go that step further and start doctoring photos?
I'm fairly good with photoshop (and for other reasons that doctoring fishing shots before someone says it :D ) and once you know...
Puddle-pigs from the same venue as last year, Colin? If so, I'm probably going to have a few early tench sessions down there, because I seem to remember that quite a few decent tincas showed early last year.
Hi Julian,
I live fairly close to the Windrush and I drive straight past it to the Thames! It is a shadow of its former self, for chub and barbel and I very much doubt you would be able to replicate anything like the same success you've had this year on whatever river it was you were fishing...
Tench thread TTT! :)
I know it's too early, but this is where my mind turns as soon as the river season finishes.
Anyone else planning their spring tench campaign?
You lucky git, Colin!
I've been trying for one of that size for the past couple of weeks and have failed miserably, with only 2lbers to show for my efforts! That's what I get for using lobs and maggots!
Yeah, sounds like the same bloke. Idiot.
A couple of average perch and chub, nothing to write home about. In fact it's been a decidedly average winter for me - a couple of 6lb chub are probably the only things worth noting. Very poor.
Your big chub looks like a cracker mate. Great stuff...
It was probably the same bloke (he was English, Mr Boote) that I saw last night whilst fishing at Osney Mead. When I made some passing comment about making the most of the last few hours, he said "what do you mean? We've still got all day tomorrow". I tried to put him right, but he wasn't having...
Hello mate,
I think you're probably spot on in the case of TC - there seems to be a very standard size (modest) for both the tench bream in there, with the occasional fish that goes slightly bigger.
Not so sure about somewhere like Sywell though. Based on catch rates - there seems to be a...
Hi Paul,
My mate and I have been doing a bit if perch fishing on the Thames around Oxford and had then to 3lb 4oz (that wasn't me unfortunately!).
Also had a few bonus fish up to 2lb when fishing for barbel with lobs on the warks Avon above Stratford recently, which was a pleasant surprise...
Good point John.
So what do we think these 'adverse conditions' are exactly? I'm assuming they can't be purely climatic otherwise you would see national (or at least regional) trends, which doesn't appear to be the case, and it would seem to me (I may be wrong) that the cycles of waters are...
And just the sort of thought I was looking for - thanks Shaun.
Given that your train of thought is along the 'survival of the fittest' lines, would you not expect subsequent year classes to display some of the same characteristics in terms of potential to grow to specimen sizes?
I can see how...
So what are your theories for the reasons then, Paul? Obviously in the case of Perch it was disease, but they've now recovered.
Waters themselves don't always seem to bounce back though like fish species? Or do they? Can anyone think of an example where a water has consistently produced...
Evening all,
Have been getting ahead of myself and researching potential venues for the spring, mostly pits and reservoirs, and have once again come across something that I've often wondered about in the past: why do some waters appear to have peaks, or at least very long cycles, in terms of...
