Oh Colin, you do make me chuckle! Other than that, what else do you think I was trying to prove?! I merely thought that people viewing the Carp thread might appreciate a couple of good looking fish - there wasn't even any mentioned of their weight!!!!! :D :D
Your word is plenty good enough...
Nice one! :)
Actually Steve, slightly off topic but you seem to be very knowledgable about the preds, how long do you keep fishing for the pike for?
Stu
I see your point, Steve, and it's a fair one. Although I wouldn't say I was being hypocritical. The angle I was coming from was not to debate the rights or wrongs of the close season, but simply to accept that it's in place and get on with the other fishing to be done at this time of year...
Dave Gauntlett, couldn't agree more with everything you've written.
Fortunately, this also saves me having to type something similar myself - thanks! :D
The close season exists. Go fish for tench or another species on still water for a couple of months and get on with it! :rolleyes...
Turns out there are a few mirrors in there as well! ;) Of the top again too :)
Colin, your proposal is tempting, but you're going to have to offer some similar proof to that on show here... :D
Cheers lads. It was a stunning looking fish - absolutely fin perfect. Caught it off the top too!!! :)
I hope to have one or two more over the next month or so.
Got in on the act this evening with this beauty from an old, unfished estate lake. First visit to the water in question and first cast... Who knows what else is in there! ;):)
Stu
Had my first tench session of the year on saturday and it produced my first two tincas of the season - both about 5lb and very welcome indeed!
Just need to find myself a few larger specimens now...
Well this has almost distracted me from the tench before my campaign has even started!!
Does anyone know of any decent crucian waters around Oxfordshire? Given the amount of water, I'm sure there must be a few but I've never knowingly managed to stumble across one. PMs welcome from anyone...
Apologies if this is already common knowledge, but if anyone is in need of a new weed rake for the Spring, I have found the absolutely perfect component part. After searching around a few garden centres and DIY stores, I stumbled across this...
One of my highlights this year was a kingfisher landing on my rod and sitting there for what felt like hours (probably about 5 seconds) whilst I was stood holding it (trotting)!! It then dived into the water and took a minnow from beneath my rod before landing on a nearby brand and knocking it...
So is this a new record that has been caught recently or the same fish that was caught on the Cotswold Water park a while ago but is only now being publicised? Apologies if I'm being a bit slow on the uptake!
