    Still fishing ?

I've noticed over the last couple of weeks that the threads are slowing down. Has everyone packed up for the winter? Is it just me out at dawn trying to catch the monster Chub or Barbel. Admittedly my Barbel catch rate has gone down but am still catching some lovely big Eels. Have you packed...

    River Itchen

Thanks for all the comments and info. Going to have a reccy in the week with the dog. Joe, i live overlooking the sea at Selsey and my 3 local angling shops are mostly sea fishing, not course fish. That's why i have to as on this forum for details. Also, the area am asking about is around 35...

    River Itchen

On another site say it's near woodside walk pitch and put by The Swan pub Eastleigh. So that gives me a clue for a reccy. Howard, you are apparently correct about the location too. Chears. It's taken me all night to sus out where it was. Lots of talk about it but no mention of where it exactly was.

Does anyone know where the free stretch of the Itchen near Southampton is. All i know there is a pub and a council carpark very near to it.

    Peripheral noise spooking fish.

The river i fish has a herd of Cows that regularly walk down to the water's edge. This seems not to disturb the fish at all but a missed placed human foot will scatter the fish. So some fish can tell the difference from the usual sounds/vibrations. Others just spook at a shadow cast on the...

Brolly help. Can't keep it up

Taken Lukes and Mike suggestions and went out and bought a Fladen style spike on my way to a cold session yesterday. Worked perfect, although there was not much wind it held the brolly tightly in the hard ground. Cheers chaps

Rod holdall recommendations for 3 10ft Rods

I've been using a Drennan Super Specialist quiver holdall like Paul but the 2 rod version. I've owned a few holdalls over the decades but the Drennan one just seems to tick the boxes and is much better designed than others. Holding 1 rod or fully loaded with rods, brolly and rod poles it just...

    Float rod for barbel/chub

I use a 14ft Acolyte plus with 5lb main line straight though. Mostly use a closed face ABU on rivers. Had anything from Roach to double figure Barbel with it. A nice sensitive tip with a very strong progressive backbone. I also use it for float/waggler work on commercials and on canals. A very...

All Time Favourite Piece Of Barbel Tackle ???

A £8 camo 30l rucksack i bought from China via Ebay. Well made from thick hard wearing material with lots of pockets and straps. 5 years of stalking and all zips work perfect and not a fray anywhere. Tried other big make one's but my cheapy beats them all.
