You can't go wrong with the TFG Classic Barbel rods. I have 2 from this range, 1 in 1.5lb and the other in 2.0lb. Both are twin tips and you can change the quiver tip if you want a lower or higher strength one. They have a dark green carbon blank with very good fittings. They have a nice...
Drennan Acolyte plus 14ft float rod. Hardly used, A1 condition. No damage or scratches. The only marks on the blank is where i put on small marker lines to line up the 3 pieces. Plastic still on Cork. Fuji rings and reel seat. Hook keeper. More or less Brand new.
Comes with an MK1 Matt Hayes...
Maxima is not a floating line. You will not beat Floatfish or Bayer Perlon for float fishing.
I still use maxima in the 5lb/6lb for Stillwater feeder fishing as it sinks well.
The Mach series of rods have always been highly regarded. I can not see any problem handling Barbel in the 5 to 6lb range. But remember that it is a float rod and not a Carp rod where you can just bully it in. Float rod and a Barbel is great fun, playing it in.
The main problem is there is no agreement between manufacturers on hook sizes. There seems to no true sizing these days. Years ago in the dark ages when all the hooks we used were made in the UK, they seemed to be a standardized sizing code. Buy a size 10 from one UK manufacturer and it was the...
PVA Products have been going for a while now. As it says, PVA Products make their own products so buying from them you're cutting out middle man out. I've bought stocking refills and bag. Good as any you will by and was delivered quite fast. I also got a small bag of sweets with the goods for free
Done by lazy slobs that think it's beneath them to take their rubbish home. These people have no respect for the country side or nature. In my view, these people should be heavily fined after being made to clear the rubbish up. Or should be made to walk the banks for 3 months cleaning up all the...
I got a cheap set in black metal, sm, med and large from Ebay. Cost less than a tenner delivered. No bits falling off to date. No way would i use the large with an Avon rod
All of my Barbel hook lengths are made with two tone ESP Stripteaze. I strip a bit about 2 to 3 inches from the hook to hopefully give the braid some flex to look natural. I use just use a basic knotless knot and a loop at the other end connected to a quick change clip or bead. Never had to...
I've got prescription Bifocal glasses, with polarised lenses. from Spec Savers.(2 for £49 plus an extra £50 for the polarising on one pair) They only colour they do is Brown. They are good but found myself wearing the normal ones with a pair of polarised clip on. More convenient and save me...
It's been raining here for the last 6 hrs and is forecasted to rain throughout the night. For the 2 days, the river Rother at fittleworth Sussex has been hard to trot a float due to the lack of water movement. So with the weather in mind what will be the best bet for tomorrow trundling meat of...
My son and I have 2 x 14ft Acolyte plus rods. we've had them since the rods came out. Drennan states 6lb line but after talking to Drennan they told me that the rods are happy with 8lb and will not be overloaded. We have one used with 6lb and the other with 8lb both for trotting. As long as you...
Second the Drennan specialist quiver bag had it for years and still many session left in it. For my Acolytes i use the Drennan 2 made up rod bag. The one with the light blue piping. Well padded and gives you a few inches more in length for 12ft rods. Only let down no shoulder strap, only a handle.
