    angling back on telly!

I'd like to see Attenborough do a programme on freshwater fish in england, not sure if this has already been done? I've seen him show us pretty much every other living thing on the planet but never a chub!

    Harrison Chimera #2

Any pictures of this rod Tim? I could be interested. Also would you consider posting it?

    Chimera flood and snag

Thanks for the replies, Steve that's a very generous offer, I'll take you up on it! Can't accept it for nowt but I'm sure we can come to some arrangement. Spoke to the guys at harrisons who recommended a chimera 2 so could end up with both :)

    Chimera flood and snag

Looking at getting one of these built. Have read plenty of good reviews. Does anyone use one or know of any reasons not to buy one?

    Korum Digital Scales

Had similar problems with Reuben heatons! Screen comes on but no numbers, then they refuse to work. Return the fish and ten minutes later they work fine. Returned them and was sent a new set but theses aren't much better. This has also happened to a friend.

    Photographed any monsters recently?

Ah good old blindness! I was once talking to a bloke at the local pond when he shouts out " look at that over there, big white rabbit" rabbit was a white cat!!

    Clutch or backwind?

Clutch every time for me! I've been converted from my match fishing back winding days! I don't set it too tight as most swims on the wharfe have plenty of room. Tight swims with snags, just set the clutch tighter and hold on. Nearly all match anglers use back wind but I've been converted to...

    Polarising Sunglasses

Maui jims are excellent. Got some at a good price off someone on here, I've been able to watch fish in areas I wouldn't normally be able to see them in. You wouldn't think twice about spending £100s on a rod or reel!

    Ousemeisters Barbel Challenge 2014

No sign of mr Lawrence down the wharfe lately, think he's been practicing his tommy rigs and prebaiting chopped worm!

    Ousemeisters Barbel Challenge 2014

Looks like I'm in Wales next weekend so won't be able to come. Gutted! I had a tub of red worms ready for those tommies, they'll have to wait till next year. Good luck to all attending

    Tyson , the fishing dog

Sad news indeed mark, sorry to hear that. I love spending time on the banks with my jack, great at getting into all the nooks and kranies finding new swims. I wish I could take him fishing but he really doesn't do sitting quietly! If he isn't in the edge of the river splashing about he's...

    Smallest pellets for hair rigging?

Two 3 or 4m pellets glued on a hair works very well fished over hemp or pellets or both. As said before you do want a high oil pellet so it doesn't break down too quickly, even still I wouldn't leave the bait out too long.

    Korum Hooks.

Had animals straightened out on the float chris. Found that super spades or super specialist were stronger but if you've never had a problem no need to change.

    Wanted a 15ft float rod

Justin I have a greys 15ft float rod I could sell. Bought it for barbel fishing on the Trent. I've only used it a handfull of times. This rod has a light and responsive feel with an unbelievable amount of power. I would take £100 for it. I wouldn't be selling it but was lucky to drop on a...

Fish of the Month sponsored by Gardner Tackle - June 2014

Wharfe fish has to win here when you put it in context. Cracking fish for this river.

    Homepage picture

David the wharfe had some major problems a few years back causing an almost overnight decline in fishing. It went from prolific to horrific! I believe the record was taken some years ago when lots of people fished the river. Mike's fish is a belter (nice photo) ;)

    split cane

Had my first river session lastnight and my first barbel on the cane! A rod I bought a few years back but have only used once before. It doesn't have any writing on so I don't know what it is but has been nicely restored by someone. I also wasn't sure of the strength of the rod so it was a bit...

    Cane and Pin

I'm not keen on the the wallis cast either mike, prefer the Heptonstall fling! I always use a pin for the float and I'm going to try use my cane n pin as much as I can this season. I was given a cane fly rod by some kind customer a few weeks back. I won't go back to my "old" carbon one!

    Goosander

We had a good flood shortly after the young goosander appeared on the river, I put this down as what I thought was the reason for the lack of chicks. There were loads last year and plenty of otters about too. I've only seen one otter in the last 6 months despite spending a lot of time on the...
